First up on his list for vengeance: the woman who betrayed him years ago. The woman he loved fiercely, the one bright light in his otherwise hard, ruthless life. She has information he needs. And he’s going to kidnap her, hold her hostage, in order to get it. But one look into Lulu’s eyes unleashes the true beast within. Hunter’s never hated anyone this deeply, or wanted any woman this badly.

Lulu had no choice: Either help send Hunter to prison, or see him destroyed. She couldn’t do that to the man she loved. Couldn’t do it to the father of her child. But Hunter was locked away before he had a chance to learn about his son—and a hard layer of despair has formed around his heart that she’s desperate to crack. And if Hunter is to give himself and Lulu a second chance at love, he needs to find a way past his darkest demons.

What to say about Shattered King? Oh I know…..it’s AMAZING! I love this book! The way Gray wrote this book was filled with so much emotion and details I felt like I was watching a movie in my minds eye. I couldn’t put this book down. It had everything that I would ever want in a romance novel, love, drama, suspense, action, sexiness, danger, and…well I could go on and on. Hunter and LuLu’s relationship was so intense. From the beginning they were both filled with so much love and hate. A lot of the situations they were in during the first half had nearly drove me insane with suspense. At times I just wanted scream “TELL HIM!” The fact that LuLu had a baby he didn’t know about really added another deep, emotionally thick layer to this story.

Now I’ve read book similar to this one, and the majority of them could be pretty predictable, but not this one. Most of the time when I thought something was going to happen it didn’t. When something did happen, I wasn’t expecting it. Shattered King really kept me at the edge of seat. I also really enjoyed getting the perspective from both LuLu and Hunter, and the transitions between the two were flawless.

Hunter was so hurt and so angry about what happened to him. My heart broke for him, even when he was doing something stupid. He was the perfect guy for this book. The bad boy, with the heart of gold, who struggled with his inner demons, and radiated with raw sexual power. Speaking of heart breaks, LuLu fought with her own inner demons as well. She struggled so much with the guilt that ate at her, and though I didn’t agree with some of her choices, I understood it. When my frustration with LuLu got real bad I wanted to jump in the book and shake her But I truly loved her character development. She was strong, and made sure to stay strong for her child, but you get a look at he weaknesses to. It was beautiful to read.

I also can’t give this review without mentioning the supporting cast. The ones that supported and cared for LuLu and Hunter were amazing, and they made me laugh so much. I don’t think this book would be as great as it it without them. If you read it, which you should, then you’ll see what I mean.

Definitely check out Shattered King, the first book in the Lawless Kings series. You’ll laugh, cry, swoon, and probably want to strangle someone.
